In the "Epson Stylus Photo R200" the gutenprint default settings do not produce high quality colours, in photos, especially when compared to the Windows OEM driver. I'm happy to supply any further information or do any tests that are needed. I am using the following: Printer: Epson Stylus Photo R200 Paper: Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper (4x6in) Print setings: Print Quality: Photo Media Type: Premium Glossy Photo Paper Borderless: On Page Size: 4x6 Color Adjust: Image Type: Photograph The output from the printer on these settings is dark and green tinted. I've discovered that setting the "image type" to "manual control" and increasing the gamma and magenta produces better results. The best results I've seen from gutenprint were with values (supplied by Matthias on linuxprinting.org- he sees similar results with this printer) of 1.4 for the Gamma value and 1.16 for Magenta. Even with these settings the colours in the photos are washed out and garish. I have tried to research colour tuning on the net, and have looked for help on the linuxprinting.org forums but with no results so far. All help or advice on tuning the colours would be much appreciated! -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (400, 'testing'), (300, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-386 Locale: LANG=en_GB, LC_CTYPE=en_GB (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages cupsys-driver-gutenprint depends on: ii cupsys 1.1.23-10 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libc6 2.3.5-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcupsimage2 1.1.23-10 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libcupsys2 1.1.23-10 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - ii libgutenprint2 4.3.99+cvs20050901-1 runtime for the Gutenprint printer ii libjpeg62 6b-10 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libtiff4 3.7.2-3 Tag Image File Format (TIFF) libra ii perl 5.8.4-8 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4.sarge.2 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
