Package: debhelper
Version: 4.9.13
Severity: wishlist

One of the Google Summer of Code projects[1] analized GNOME starup
times. One of the big-ticket items was gconfd's reads of the gconf
defaults database. He discovered that gconf has support for reading a
pre-merged configuration hierarchy, and that this significantly reduced
overall startup time.

Please modify dh_gconf to invoke gconf-merge-tree as appropriate in the
postinstall and postremoval scripts for all GNOME packages that use this
debhelper.

Thanks,
-Jonathan Brandmeyer
