Euh, no idea. oh, actually it is problematic, it is because i tried to reduce
the size of the initrd by not using the fonts, didn't help though.

I don't think it is related to our problem though.

Indeed, we now believe it is a linker problem (thus binutils, not gcc, right 
?), not
sure if this helps to find the fix though.

Am cloning the bug and reassigning to binutils.
