Hi Michael, Thanks for the prompt reply. I sympathize with you about upstream, I've observed similar incidents before. FYI, (and anyone else who's affected) adding the nobind option doesn't work in /etc/auto.master itself; it needs to be added to the ldap automount map e.g. "automountInformation: -fstype=nfs4,no_root_squash,nobind fileserver:/". It fixed the problem on the fileserver and doesn't seem to affect behaviour on other clients (not that I thought it would). IOW, I still am able to use only one map. Thanks again, Chris
