Dear Maintainer,
I had a well-working Debian GNU/Linux System on a GPT hard disk migrated
from a ordinary PC laptop to a MacBook5,2 machine(which uses Nvidia north and
south bridge chips,and an NV GeForce 9400M G GPU), by adjusting partitions with
gparted to make a EFI partition, installing grub-efi to make it possible to
boot linux kernel from EFI directly, and update-initramfs.
Now, the MacBook5,2 works almost perfectly, except that if I use
gnome-shell as window manager, it may freeze the screen occasionally(for
example, when I am surfing on WWW with iceweasel). When it occurs, the mouse
can still move the cursor, but cannot do clicking; the keyboard will be out of
order(even caps-lock and ctrl-alt(-fn)-F1~F6, which prevent me from escaping to
other PTYs then do something to rescue!).All I can do to escape from such
situation is to log in from another computer via ssh, and kill the Xorg.
Killing programs whose window is in the screen or the window manager
gnome-shell will never make any changes on the screen.
If I use the metacity as window manager(by chooing "GNOME-Classic" while
logging in), the problem will never occur(at least it have not occurred yet).
Gnome-shell works fine on my other PCs running Debian testing.
Now I have to stay using metacity on this MacBook5,2.
