Package: network-manager Version: 0.9.8.0-5 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
Not sure whether this is a duplicate of bug #642136? When connecting to a hidden wlan (nm-applet --> left click --> Connect to Hidden Wi-fi Network) NM asks for the root passwd on the pretext that a system setting will be changed: org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system This is not necessary, since connecting to such a network can be completed as a normal user. Indeed, selecting "Cancel" in the pop-up frame allows me to type in the (in my case) WPA2 credentials and the connection gets established. The connection was used before, and there is a corresponding file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ In nm-applet it's selected to "Connect Automatically" and "All users may connect ..."
