Package: chrony
Version: 1.20-6
Severity: normal
I am experiencing brief and regular freezes while chronyd is running and
when it uses RTC.
What I call a freeze is: mouse stops moving, music (xmms) stops playing,
keyboard stops responding. The freeze lasts less than a second (half a
second I would say) and everything continues normally afterwards.
Commenting out the "rtcfile /var/lib/chrony/chrony.rtc" line in
/etc/chrony/chrony.conf works around the issue. As suggested by the config
file, here are some info about my kernel and motherboard:
$ grep -i rtc /boot/config-2.6.10-bs2
CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT=y
CONFIG_RTC=m
CONFIG_GEN_RTC=m
CONFIG_GEN_RTC_X=y
CONFIG_SND_RTCTIMER=m
(I observe the same problem with Debian's 2.6.8-2-686)
