Package: hibernate
Version: 1.10-1
Severity: important
I tried to install hibernate on a Fujitsu Lifebook S-Series laptop (but the
effect is system-independent).
1) install hibernate
apt-get install hibernate

Suggested packages:

Your kernel does not have any recent Software Suspend 2 support compiled in.
Please follow the HOWTO linked from http://www.suspend2.net/ for
instructions on how to compile Software Suspend into your kernel.
hibernate: Aborting.
2)

candidate
Basically, I don't know whether hibernate correctly uses ACPI, as the ACPI
was correctly installed on the system and working, and still hibernate
claimed that it cannot work without software suspend 2. However, the patch
is no longer available, dependencies are broken, so practically a user who
want to have a very _basic_ function of the computer is left with compiling
a custom kernel.
