I had intended to install libpam-systemd for exactly that reason, but
then I read the note in README.Debian under "Known bugs and problems":

Fair enough.

On a related note, what's the transition plan for getting rid of
dependencies on consolekit, such as those in gnome-bluetooth,
pulseaudio, or policykit-1?  Ideally I'd like to not have both
running...
