Hello Karsten,

Where i can see this?
There is no line with something like sound.
You found the related lines as you wrote in the other mail.

No - i opened prefs.js directly with an editor.

Found this two lines in prefs.js now:

user_pref("mail.biff.play_sound.type", 1);
user_pref("mail.biff.play_sound.url", "file:///path/mysound.wav");
This means the file would be found in '/path/mysound.wav' ? Is that
true? And if so what about the access right of that file? Icedove is
able access that file (in context of your user permissions)?
A file location like this is very unconventional. Better select a file
inside your home directory.

Of course not - the file name was manually edited for the email from me.

If this want work your sound system is configured wrong.

My soundsystem is working perfect in all other cases.

I have renamed my prefs.js and started Icedove again.
Now i simply added the soundfile as shown in the screenshot.
This does not work!

The only thing i can do now is to try the "original" Thunderbird.

Cheers
Karsten
