Probably this doesn't affect just dolphin (see below) but I thought it was a good place to start. Since I upgraded from kde 4.8 to 4.10 dolphin takes at least 20 seconds to start. I think it's related to the places and devices panels. I say this because other kde programs/components that use places and devices are affected in the same way. Examples: -Any filechooser dialog opened from any kde program takes at least 20 seconds to open (and they have the places and devices stuff on one side) -Konqueror, if opened as a browser starts immediately but when you switch to file manager and click on the places and devices button on the left side it freezes for at least 20 seconds. -gwenview (which has places and devices in its file browser window) takes 20 seconds to start. These are the cases I found. Notice that I tried with a new user with freshly generated config files and the problems are still there. Also notice gnome's filemanager (which has similar devices/places shortcuts) doesn't have any of these problems (so, if it's some problem with some infrastructure like udisks or something it's still kde-related).
