Looks like the maintainer upload (amd64) included a locally rebuilt info file, while all buildd builds ship the file included in the .orig tarball. There is nothing special about amd64, if I rebuild the package locally, I also get the shipped one included in the package. A possible solution for now would be nmu check_0.9.10-4 .
