Argh, this is complex! I think we need to do this:
• Fix mediawiki-extensions to not ship Renameuser any more, version as x.y • Add something to mediawiki.preinst to move back the files if they ended up in /usr/share/mediawiki-extensions/base/Renameuser to /var/lib/mediawiki/extensions/Renameuser • Upload mediawiki with (Breaks|Conflicts) on mw-ext << x.y~ ⇒ which one? I’m not sure. Also, will installing this changed mediawiki break somehow, since dpkg will need to update or deinstall mediawiki-extensions first? Finally… is Renameuser the only affected extension? Isn’t there a handy Debian tool to display packaging list conflicts (i.e. packages installing the same files, with or without symlink resolution)? If not, why not? If so, where? Funnily enough I’ve run into the symlink-to-directory-is-not-replaced situation with a package I make for at work recently too ☹ one of the very bad parts of dpkg IMHO. bye, //mirabilos -- tarent solutions GmbH Rochusstraße 2-4, D-53123 Bonn • http://www.tarent.de/ Tel: +49 228 54881-393 • Fax: +49 228 54881-314 HRB 5168 (AG Bonn) • USt-ID (VAT): DE122264941 Geschäftsführer: Boris Esser, Sebastian Mancke -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
