Calling
DEBFULLNAME=foo dch -i
uses "foo" as name in the changelog entry. BUT
DEBFULLNAME=foo dch -i -m bla
uses the current user name.
It doesn't use the current user name, it uses whatever was already in
the changelog.
From dch(1):
--maintmaint, -m
Do not modify the maintainer details previously listed
in the
changelog. This is useful particularly for sponsors
wanting to
automatically add a sponsorship message without
disrupting the
other changelog details. Note that there may be some
interest-
ing interactions if multi-maintainer mode is in use;
you will
probably wish to check the changelog manually before
uploading
it in such cases.
So far as I can see, this matches documented behaviour. Were you
perhaps expecting dch to use -m as "message", similar to e.g. svn / git
commit?
