Hello, The bug in libsocialweb you are talking about seems to be https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2011-4129.
This should already be fixed in the version in unstable and jessie. I would be personally tempted to keep libsocialweb integration in g-c-c, but quickly looking at the code, the only thing we would loose is the ability to select the background directly from flickr.
