Ouch. :-) > I'm wondering, though... Given that both the source code and the > binary file are freely distributable, can't you just use the upstreams > data file? Or does the DFSG mandate that the source code has to be > portable, in addition to free? I know that it is done this way for certain firmware blobs contained within the Linux kernel sources. The kernel.org tarball contains both the sources and the pre-compiled firmware image, and the linux-image.deb file simply contains the pre-compiled one and does not bother with the sources (see e.g. AIC7XXX_BUILD_FIRMWARE). I should be able to do the same. However I would appreciate it if I could actually verify that it works as it should, and include a recipe for generating the CPT file in case somebody wants to do that. I just got an email from LavosSpawn (Cc'ed) that sort of explains how to use the scripts - a rather complex procedure which involves running the game and creating savegames at the right moments and so on. My hopes for «Oh, sorry, I forgot to commit the Makefile. Here you are!» were brutally shattered. Oh well, I guess you can't have it all. :-) The procedure seems to me to be a catch-22 as well, at least I cannot quite understand how you can play the game and creating the save game files required to build the CPT without already having a prebuilt .CPT file available. Perhaps you need an older version of ScummVM? I must admit I'm not particulary familiar with the ScummVM sources so I'm a bit lost with regards to the entire process here. :| On top it all - I've just purchased an apartment and will be relocating to it in a few days. I doubt I will be able to look more closely at this before then. And it usually takes three to four weeks for the ISP's here to establish a new broadband connection... :-( Kind regards -- Tore Anderson
