since I'm also affected by this, I've taken the time to also report this issue upstream [1]. In the meantime, can you maybe have another look into this? As Russ already indicated, removing the xrdb call completely would already result in the correct behaviour on Debian systems. The -nocpp option simply breaks otherwise perfectly working Xresources files, so I'd rather have the xrdb call removed completely, if you think time is an issue here (which I actually don't, to be honest).
