Hi,
while "snap to grid" works nicely when intially placing an object it
doesn't work when moving objects. This start to work again when one
enables "snap bounding box corner" as described here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1093739
This is a confusing change since it changes the default behaviour. The
behaviour is fixed in r9947. It'd be great to have inkscape updated to
make snapping work again by default.
