Package: kexec-tools
Version: 1:2.0.3-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
We're running the linux-image-3.10-0.bpo.2-amd64 kernel and installed
kdump-tools. We configure the following in /etc/default/kdump-tools:
USE_KDUMP=1
DEBUG_KERNEL="/usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64"
Then:
# /etc/init.d/kdump-tools start
Starting kdump-tools: Unsupported utsname.release: 3.10-0.bpo.2-amd64
Cannot load /boot/vmlinuz-3.10-0.bpo.2-amd64
[FAIL] failed to load kdump kernel ... failed!
# sh -x /etc/init.d/kdump-tools start
[...]
+ echo -n Starting kdump-tools:
Starting kdump-tools: + /usr/sbin/kdump-config load
Unsupported utsname.release: 3.10-0.bpo.2-amd64
Cannot load /boot/vmlinuz-3.10-0.bpo.2-amd64
[FAIL] failed to load kdump kernel ... failed!
+ exit 0
This may be related to Bug# 708034:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=708034
jessie/testing has 2.0.3-4, which supposedly has a fix with regards to
needing x.y.z kernel versions (not 'only' x.y), but wheezy/stable only
has 2.0.3-1 available. I tried installing 2.0.3-4 manually, but it
needs libc6>=2.14.
Can a newer version, or at least the specific patch, be pushed to
wheezy?
