Package: apt Version: 0.5.28.6 Severity: wishlist
In walking a user through compiling gaim, it came to my attention that apt-get build-dep gaim does not pull and install build-essential, without at least some of which the compile will fail. I asked robot101 about this, and was told that "every package has an implicit build dependency on build-essential," and that if I want this to change, to become an explicit dependency, or at least to have the build-dep command check to ensure build-essential is installed, that I should file a wishlist bug against apt.
