If you select the icon for a mounted network shared and hit the delete key (or drag it to the trash) a dialog appears stating: You cannot delete a volume icon. If you want to eject the volume, please use Eject in the right-click menu of the volume. In the context menu for the volume there is no Eject item, the correct item is "Unmount Volume".
