It was disabled by Fabrice Coutadeur's patch to enable wxMediaCtrl so as to avoid installing the wxPython package pulling in a huge pile of packages - when libwxgtk2.8-0 pulled in these packages, people weren't happy: http://bugs.debian.org/493090 > Is this an intentional change or a packaging issue? Intentional I think (Cc-ing Fabrice to see what his thoughts are): http://sources.debian.net/src/wxwidgets2.8/2.8.12.1-16/debian/patches/disable_media_python.patch > see also > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wxwidgets2.8/+bug/1224528 for > a user report. Note that 'import wx.media' doesn't actually do anything useful in Debian stable (because wxMediaCtrl isn't packaged there). The situation in Ubuntu is different - they've enabled wxMediaCtrl for much longer, and weren't disabling wx.media until they merged wxwidgets2.8 2.8.12.1-14 from Debian. So their bug is rather more serious as they used to provide a working wx.media but no longer do. Cheers, Olly -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
