Did this work before? There's already a bug report from years ago about liferea not working with a proxy running on localhost. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=555199 Can you tell me if this worked in the 1.8 series? If not, then this is probably a duplicate bug report of 555199.
