Can you try to install libsane-extras << 1.0.16.6 and see if that
helps ? You probably still have the package in the APT cache, under
/var/cache/apt/archives.

Otherwise, fetch it from <http://snapshot.debian.net>.

As for the USB messages, they are expected for your (multifunction)
device, so don't worry about them.
