Package: xdg-utils Version: 1.1.0~rc1+git20111210-7 Severity: normal When installing google-chrome-beta (32.0.1700.19-1) from dl.google.com post-installation fails and xdg-desktop-menu complains about no writable system menu directory found.
--- aptitude output --- Setting up google-chrome-beta (32.0.1700.19-1) ... xdg-desktop-menu: No writable system menu directory found. dpkg: error processing google-chrome-beta (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 3 ----------------------- I had no /usr/share/desktop-directories so I created it and then installation works fine. It seems google-chrome-beta does not install anything into /usr/share/desktop-directories but xdg-desktop-menu needs the directory to exist anyway. If xdg-desktop-menu requires that directory to exist to function properly, shouldn't xdg-utils create that directory when installed?
