Subject: powertop: Powertop crashes on battery Package: powertop Version: 2.0-0.3 Severity: important
Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? When I launch "sudo powertop" or powertop (as root), it crashes with this output: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::ios_base::failure' what(): basic_filebuf::underflow error reading the file * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? * What was the outcome of this action? Powertop is useless when laptop is on battery * What outcome did you expect instead? I read that next versions of powertop fix this bug, but I think that the aim of Debian Stable is to work well without upgrading packages -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=it_IT.utf8, LC_CTYPE=it_IT.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages powertop depends on: ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.2-5 ii libncursesw5 5.9-10 ii libnl-3-200 3.2.7-4 ii libnl-genl-3-200 3.2.7-4 ii libpci3 1:3.1.9-6 ii libstdc++6 4.7.2-5 ii libtinfo5 5.9-10 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 powertop recommends no packages.
