The opensubtitles plugin cannot be activated or loaded in totem 3.8. It is activated on my configuration, so I get the following messages every time I launch totem: (totem:14822): libpeas-WARNING **: Error initializing Python Plugin Loader: PyGObject initialization failed ImportError: could not import gobject (could not find _PyGObject_API object) (totem:14822): libpeas-WARNING **: Please check the installation of all the Python related packages required by libpeas and try again (totem:14822): libpeas-WARNING **: Loader 'python' is not a valid PeasPluginLoader instance (totem:14822): libpeas-WARNING **: Could not find loader 'python' for plugin 'opensubtitles' And if I check manually the plugin list in Edit>plugins, the plugin has a little red sign and cannot be activated. It seems this totem 3.8 uses python3, while the plugin is written in python 2. It seems a port for Python 3 was done upstream [1].
