When commenting them in and simply calling "update-fmtutil; fmtutil > --missing" > fmtutil should stop with the error message: I must apologize - back in June when you reported the bug, I had already found the cause, we just didn't come to any conclusion what to do. The fact is that we won't have a chance to fix this in sarge (as usually), and since it's fixed in sid it's only a question of time until the fix gets into testing. It'll take a little more than the usual 10 days, though.
