I've hit this, too. FWIW, gdm3's ability to talk to console-kit-daemon
stopped during a stint of using kdm3/kde. Not sure what's causing it,
but the key symptom is that 'ck-list-sessions' comes up empty. When that
happens, all sorts malfunctions in gnome result (e.g. NetworkManager
refusing to do its job).
