There seems to be many copies embedded in Debian packages (http://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=TimeoutSocket+path%3Atimeoutsocket.py gives hint), which may justify a package on its own... or getting rid, since it seems there's a solution a timeout mechanism in Python for quite some time (judging from http://bugs.python.org/issue555085).
