Package: ucarp Version: 1.5.2-1+nmu1 Severity: wishlist We are using ucarp to move a virtual mac address along with the virtual ip address using a macvlan interface. This works equally well for ipv4 and ipv6. However when the state changes to master, ucarp sends in the gratuitous arp with the mac address of the physical interface. This works ok, but is redundant, because the virtual ip address will first be seen on this new mac address and after an arp cache timeout it will resolve to the virtual mac address again.
The ucarp behaviour looks like arp cache poisoning attempt and there might be issues with extremely restrictive switch configurations. It would be advantageous to have a parameter that would disable the automatic sending of gratuitous arp in ucarp. thanks Martin -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ucarp depends on: ii ifupdown 0.7.8 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libpcap0.8 1.3.0-1 Versions of packages ucarp recommends: ii iproute 20120521-3+b3 ucarp suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
