The logfile has the piuparts command line used for the test at the top, you may have to adjust paths etc. My piuparts test machine is currently offline, so I cannot check in detail. I assume it is related to (one or more of) setting DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive, stdin being redirected from /dev/null and policy-rc.d forbidding to start services, and everything happening in a minimal chroot.
