Well, it was a news, which could have been included in 
3.0-2 NEWS.Debian.
Modifying that entry will help new users who have upgraded
from sarge to etch to note user-visible change.

I'm personally unaffected, but I'm not confident enough to 
say if others aren't.

/me looks at previous bugreport and notes that it has
resulted in zero action: 329972

Where is that texk mailing list and texlive list archives
that keeps on popping up?
