GtkLP is somewhat outdated in Debian. The recent upstream release of GtkLP is 1.3.0 which fixes a lot of bugs (see http://gtklp.sirtobi.com/changelog.shtml ). Could you please consider to update the Debian package gtklp to the upstream release 1.3.0.
