Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I have several gmail accounts configured in claws-mail, using IMAP, and set to
download all messages to disk and also leave copies on the server.

When I click an "INBOX" folder label in the folder list, claws will immediately
check for new messages on the server for that account. That's great. However,
as it's doing this, it "hides" everything in the message list, and I cannot use
the program in any meaningful way until it has finished checking the server
(which can take some time, I believe possibly relating to this bug:
http://www.thewildbeast.co.uk/claws-mail/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3049 ).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Working in Offline Mode behaves as expected, with no delay or loss of access to
the message list. It does not resolve the issue, though, as I would like to
have this access when in online mode.

I would greatly prefer if claws operated while checking the server much like
Evolution does (a program from which I am a refugee, as I simply could not put
up with all the serious bugs - worse ones than this, for sure). In that, it
gladly displays the cached message list and allows you to open, delete,
forward, or otherwise manipulate cached messages while it is querying the
server. While the server exchange is happening, it simply adds the new messages
to the message list on the fly.

Thank you all so much for such a wonderful program, I really do love it! I hope
I can work with you all to make it even better.
