I have prepared a patch to add a new package to the Git source package, providing the GNOME keyring credential helper from contrib/credential. The patch series consists of two commits (and a changelog addition, which I'll complete after having the bug number): * add a PKG_ARCH list to debian/rules to handle more than one arch-dependant package * add the arch-dependant package 'git-credential-gnome-keyring' I'll attach the patch series in a follow-up with an appropriate "Closes:" entry in the changelog.
