I think all the preliminary steps are done with 1.22.6 upload to sid. I have
also uploaded 1.23.0~exp1 to experimental including a different handling of
autobuildhash symlinks intended to stop shipping symlinks in package itself.
I have also uploaded to sid most of the dictionaries I am the only
maintainer. They use new substvars and got ready to be rebuilt against
1.23 once it is considered ready for sid. This should help finding pending
bugs in sid version. Unfortunately none of them is a basic aspell dict to
create a single aspell dict package, so they did not benefit from
aspell-simple.
Also built a small part of those dictionaries against experimental version

I think we can start working on this,
I'd speak about
aspell-simple: To make things easier for people maintaining aspell
dictionaries created from pristine aspell sources.
substvars: Good help for being in sync with dependencies.
autobuildhash symlinks: No longer shipped with the package but created by the
autobuildhash script. A list of available symlinks is put in a
.remove list to make sure they are removed fro mpostrm. Dangling
symlinks are searched for and removed at the trigger run (this last
may have been enough, but having .remove files does not harm).
as reasons to upgrade.
Suggestions for more points?
I have been working on these new uploads during this week and now would like
to have spare time for other things. Will try to find time to start
ellaborating on those points.
