If the console font has more than 256 glyphs, only 8 background colors
are available. This makes nyancat look rather unappealing (see the

Do you have any more information about this? What terminal do you use,
Linux virtual terminal.
and how many colours does it support.
16 foreground colors, and either 16 or (as in my case) 8 background colors.
What font are you using?
