I've not seen this on any of my icinga+mod-gearman installations, so I
can't reproduce it myself. I've got other problems with
mod-gearman/gearmand, but a "lock up" is not one of them.

Apart from turning up log verbosity everywhere, looking at the logs, and
trying to send and receive messages manually through gearman-job-server,
I'm not sure what to propose.
