JFTR: I cannot reproduce this on Wheezy (screen version
4.1.0~20120320gitdb59704-7), neither with byobu 5.16-1.1 nor with
byobu 5.70-1~bpo70+1 from wheezy-backports.

Which probably means that the byobu versions available for Wheezy just
don't trigger the issue. I suspect, it's there nevertheless. We'll see
once I've tracked down a minimal .screenrc to trigger it.
