The problem with inability to open remote URIs in GTK file open dialog should now be fixed. On the other hand, the file dialog has been 'improved' so you have to jump through several hoops to display the location bar to which you can enter them. The other problem was with glib requiring a domain for mounting a samba share although domain is not required to mount it in some cases. I don't think this was ever fixed.
