Source: apparmor
Version: 2.8.0-5+b1
Severity: important

Hi,

(Filing this as a bug, as there's no other public place that I know to
discuss such matters.)

I'm wondering what version of the AppArmor userspace we want to ship
in Jessie.

My understanding is that we have to choose between:

  1. The latest stable stuff from the 2.8 branch (e.g. 2.8.3)
       (+) well-tested, known working

  2. Something closer to 3.0, and to what Ubuntu shipped in 14.04LTS
     (e.g. what they call 2.8.95~NNNN)
(-) super-fresh code, not part of a stable upstream release
yet; quite a lot of stuff was merged in there during the
very few months of the 14.04LTS dev cycle; OTOH, I expect
that most of the rough edges are fixed in 14.04LTS before
           we freeze Debian Jessie
(-) unclear if it has ever been tested, without out-of-tree
kernel patches, and little chance that these patches land
in mainline in time for Jessie :(
(+) being closer to Ubuntu eases sharing of profiles

Thoughts?

Cheers,
