I've had the same bug: fvwm crashes badly after giving the following
error messages (plus other stuff):
Invalid byte sequence during conversion from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1
*** Error in `fvwm': free(): invalid size: 0x0000000000dcb060 ***
or
Invalid byte sequence during conversion from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1
*** Error in `fvwm': free(): invalid pointer: 0x00000000018c60c0 ***
or
Invalid byte sequence during conversion from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1
*** Error in `fvwm': double free or corruption (out):
0x0000000001d83930 ***
I can reproduce the bug fairly reliably by clicking on the firefox tab
that contains the web page
http://www.insidescience.org/content/why-does-time-flow-forward/1625
(I suspect that that prompts fvwm to change the title of the firefox
window which triggers the bug)
I have a fresh install of gentoo linux and running fvwm 2.6.5 with
support for: ReadLine, XPM, Shape, XShm, SM, Xinerama, XRender,
XCursor, XFT, NLS
I solved my problem (I HOPE!) by just commenting the following line in
my .fvwm2rc:
WindowFont -adobe-helvetica-bold-r-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
This changes the font of the windows to the default one (which is not
too bad after all) and I've had no more crashes for now. I hope this
is helpful.
Bye,
Lorenzo
p.s. Please let me know if you need more info from me or if I can help
in any way.
