FYI, on Fedora we have a 'libguestfs-rescue' sub-package which pulls in some extra dependencies that are useful in the virt-rescue shell. This allows us to have larger dependencies for people who want to use virt-rescue, without needing those dependencies elsewhere.
I'm not sure if this solves the problem, but that's what we do anyhow.
