package: pspp version: 0.7.9 pspp is statistical analytical software based on gnu principles. the latest stable version is 0.8.3 (released on 25th April,2014) and the previous one is 0.8.2 (released on January, 2014). however the version present in the repository is an outdated one- version 0.7.9. i suggest that the version should be updated to the latest stable release. i am using ubuntu 14.04 LTS, kernel 3.13.0-24-generic. according to the developers, pspp is coming directly from debian repository to ubuntu and other debian based disto. if updated in the debian repository, that will provide the updated version to all the debian based distros.
