The solution to an overcomplicated piece of packaging is not to make it more complicated! Frankly, if I'm going to change anything, I would rather remove *all* the examples from /etc/default/grub, and defer entirely to the documentation. I don't think it's the course of wisdom in the long term to attempt to duplicate the documentation in comments in /etc/default/grub.
