Package: gnupg
Version: 1.4.2-2
Severity: wishlist
Hello,
I would like to see /usr/bin/gpgv shipped in a separate package from
gnupg, e.g. gpgv. Rationale would be to have a small package on which
it'd be ok for apt to depend on, so that signature verification can be
always on. Some other developers have agreed this would be particularly
useful for chroots (smaller size, plus libraries like libusb-0.1-4,
libldap2, and dependencies, don't have to be pulled).
Another option would be to keep /usr/bin/gpgv in the gnupg package,
and ship gpgv-udeb's binary as /usr/bin/gpgv-tiny in another package.
But this sounds like increased trouble (e.g., having to change apt's
configuration) for little benefit (loosing dependencies on libbz2 and
libreadline), so well, whatever you consider best.
Thanks in advance,
