Package: openoffice.org Version: 2.0.0-2 Severity: normal Hi, I have my documents set by default to English (Australian). What else would I use, I'm Australian, right? Apart from spelling, there are questions of date, decimal, money formatting and cultural pride. So selecting English (UK) is not a satisfactory workaround.
As you are aware, there is no en_AU dictionary. In the Englishes, there is only en_GB and en_US. So I've installed the British dictionary, and I'm quite happy to use it as a "next best" for spellchecking my English (Australian) OOo documents. The only problem is, I can't (unless there's some secret option hidden somewhere). OOo does not let me specify which dictionary I want to use for spellchecking. It just says "this document is Australian, there is no en_AU dictionary, so too bad". That is, when I click F7 for spellchecking, the box comes up, but just says "The spellcheck is complete" and exits immediately without letting me get to the underlying spelling dialog box where I might have otherwise been able to select a different dictionary. Any spelling errors are completely ignored. I've defined the default document language in Options: Language Settings->Languages to English (Australian). Likewise, I've selected the dictionary in Language Settings->Writing Aids->Myspell Spellchecker (Edit) to English (UK). But this spellcheck dictionary setting is being ignored. It's not just English (Australian). What if I want to write a multicultural document, with French and German sections, say. How am I supposed to spellcheck them as well when the language used for spellchecking is so tightly bound to the document default language? Can you please be so kind as to decouple the tight binding between document language and spellcheck dictionary?
