Hello, what I really wanted to say is that it would be nice to have the patch backported to any version that is or will be in the Debian repository (1.7.x, 1.8.y, and so on) until the bug will be fixed upstream (somewhere in 1.9.z) and the Debian repository will have catched up with upstream.
