Package: jvm-7-avian-jre Version: 0.7+20140401-1 Severity: important Hi.
I just tried installing avian to get something less painful than the Zero VM on my iBook G4 (powerpc) and while starting the java command with avian set as the first (non-comment) entry in /etc/java-7-openjdk/jvm-powerpc.cfg, I get: ,----[ java -version ] | Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine. | Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit. `---- If I revert back to the Zero VM or to JamVM, then things start as expected. For instance, with JamVM: ,----[ java -version ] | java version "1.7.0_55" | OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.7) (7u55-2.4.7-2) | JamVM (build 1.6.0-devel, inline-threaded interpreter with stack-caching) `---- I should also point out that I tried avian on an armel v5 and I got illegal instructions, which makes me wonder if I should raise the severity of this bug to RC.
